Children 4-12 years of age are invited to visit the Downtown Library anytime during open hours between September 29 and October 19 to pick up a skeleton to decorate. The deadline to return your finished product is no later than 5 p.m. Saturday, October 19. The parade of skeletons will adorn the Downtown Library lobby for judging for two weeks. Winners in two age groups 4-8 and 9-12, will be announced and given prizes at the Awards Ceremony on November 2nd at 1 p.m. There will be a prize for Patron Favorite, so be sure to tell everyone to come see your work of art! 

Invitamos a niños de 4-12 años a visitar la Biblioteca Downtown en nuestras horas regulares desde el 29 de Septiembre hasta el 19 de Octubre, para recoger un esqueleto para decorar en casa. La fecha de cierre para entregar el esqueleto terminado es el Sábado 19 de Octubre a las 5 p.m. Los esqueletos adornarán el lobby de la Biblioteca Downtown por dos semanas mientras se realiza la votación. Learn how to see the world around you through an “artist's eye.” Join Annie Corrington, owner of Art Attack Studio, to learn and improve drawing skills over the course of 8 weeks. Each week we will build upon previously taught skills and explore a variety of media. There will be a final gallery exhibition of the work created. Open to any skill level. Materials and instruction will be provided. This class is intended for adults age 55 and over, registration required.

Advancing Creative Aging Through State Library Leadership Initiative is a joint initiative of Califa Group, Wyoming State Library, Missouri State Library, and Lifetime Arts. It was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Grant.

Our weekly movie event is hosted by professional movie critic Bob Shultz. This week’s movie is Death Becomes Her (1992) 103 Minutes, PG-13. 

Hard of hearing? We have t-coil looping technology installed in the theater for hearing aids. Thank you to the Sertoma Club of St. Joseph for providing this state-of-the-art technology in the theater!
