ST. JOSEPH PUBLIC LIBRARY
RESTRICTING ACCESS TO ONLINE MATERIAL FOR MINORS POLICY

Introduction
It is the policy of the St. Joseph Public Library (SJPL) to restrict minors from gaining computer access to material that is pornographic for minors in accordance with Sections 182.825 and 182.827, RSMo. SJPL defines a minor as being 17 years of age or younger.
Access to Inappropriate Material
SJPL does not grant access to public internet computers to minors under the age of 9. Public computer access for minors ages 9 to 17 is done with the consent and authorization of a minor’s parent or legal guardian. See 310 – Internet Consent Form.
All public access computers are equipped with software that limit a minor’s ability to gain access to material that is pornographic for minors.
Supervision and Monitoring
It shall be the responsibility of all members of the St. Joseph Public Library staff to supervise and monitor usage of the public access computers in accordance with this policy and Sections 182.825 and 182.827, RSMo. See 328 – Public Computers and Internet Policy for more information.
