For kids this month at your library

The Friends of the St. Joseph Public Library are having a big sale on Children's books! Board books, picture books, chapter books, fiction and nonfiction - everything $1. Stock up on kid's books for your classroom or home. Accepts cash, check, or credit card.

Thursday, August 14 9 a.m. - 8 p.m.

Friday, August 15 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Saturday, August 16 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Organizations and staff that work with children should inquire about purchasing in bulk with Jessica Poet at jpoet@sjpl.lib.mo.us. 

Children ages 2-6 years and their grown-ups can learn while playing at our weekly Messy Munchkins sessions in June and July. Each week we’ll have child-directed play time where little ones can explore, learn, and yes, get messy all while having fun!

Join us for LEGO Club at the East Hills Library! Come meet with fellow LEGO enthusiasts each month for various LEGO challenges. Can you build it?

For grades K and up.

Do you love to do jigsaw puzzles? We do too! But what do you do with the ones you have completed? Now's your chance to swap some you have done with some new to you puzzles at this puzzle swap! Just bring a puzzle (or two, or three) and we'll swap with each other. For all ages, no registration required. 

We will be watching Lilo & Stitch. Please note that movie runtime is 85 minutes.

Get ready to sing, dance, read, and have so much fun with Ms. Misty for preschool Storytime at the East Hills Library!

Activities will be geared toward ages 3-6.

This week we will be playing a fun game of BINGO for school supplies! If you and your child enjoy a variety of games, crafts, and activities, join us every week for Tricky Tuesday! This program is best for Children ages 6 to 12.

Bring your wiggly toddlers to a storytime designed just for them!
Children, ages 18 months-3 years, and their caring adults, can participate in early literacy enhancing activities including books, songs, movement activities, finger plays and flannel stories.

Join Ms. Amanda every Wednesday at 10:30 for stories and crafts.

Join Miss Lisa and Miss Robyn for a fun filled storytime followed by a craft and open play time!

Children aged 0-6 and their caregivers are invited to learn and play together in the East Hills Storytime Room with the early literacy toy collection. In addition, we will sing songs and fingerplays featuring rhythm instruments, ribbon wands, scarves and/or shakers.

The Book Buddies Pony Express Therapy Dogs, in partnership with the East Hills Library, are offering children a way to improve their reading skills in a unique and fun environment. This program utilizes therapy dogs as the listeners for children of all ages and reading levels.  Drop in anytime during this 90 minute session.

Join us for an outdoor movie night sponsored by the Library Foundation. The outdoor theater equipment was purchased with funds from the Urban Homestead grant.

Come and listen the story The Truth About Grandparents by Elina Ellis and then paint a portrait with two of your favorite people Grandma and Grandpa!

Join us for Storytime, where little listeners will cuddle up for a fun-filled story and then bring the tale to life with a hands-on craft adventure! Perfect for tiny hands and big imaginations. Ages 0-6.
