Teen Art Project: National Suicide Prevention & Awareness Month
September 6 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
East Hills Library: Teens ages 12 to 18 are invited to meet at the East Hills Library to create art installations using old landline phones that will be displayed throughout the St. Joseph community. These phones will be paired with crisis management information to raise awareness of the various resources available to those in need of support.
September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, giving us an opportunity to use this month to reach out to those affected by suicide, raise awareness of this stigmatized and sensitive topic, and ensure that individuals, friends and families have access to the resources they need to discuss suicide prevention. If you or someone you know is in crisis—whether they are considering suicide or not—please call the toll-free Lifeline at 800-273-TALK (8255) to speak with a trained crisis counselor. Text NAMI to 741-741 to connect with a trained crisis counselor to receive free, 24/7 crisis support via text message.
For more information, contact the East Hills Library at 236-2136.
